Guidance on how a home’s energy performance is calculated using the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) methodology, which underpins the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).<\/p>\n

The Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM) is the methodology used by the government to assess and compare the energy and environmental performance of non-domestic properties.<\/p>\n

For existing dwellings, a simplified version of\u00a0SAP<\/abbr>\u00a0called Reduced Data\u00a0SAP<\/abbr>\u00a0(RdSAP<\/abbr>) is used to assess their energy performance. An\u00a0RdSAP<\/abbr>\u00a0assessment will use a set of assumptions about the dwelling based on conventions and requirements at the time it was constructed.<\/p>\n
